“We’re happy to continue to support Flash on the Mac, and the best way for users to always have the most up to date and secure version is to download it directly from Adobe.”
We mentioned this in Episode 26 • The Lion in Waiting and to be quite honest it make complete sense. Adobe is updating Flash so often that there is no reason for Apple to make another mistake like they did with the 10.6.4 update by releasing an older Flash version and putting their users at risk. For me this really isn’t an issue, Apple doesn’t make Flash and therefore should not be held responsible for keeping it up to date. As Old Ben (@Burg42) would say: It’s just common sense.
Herr Gruber always puts it best.
There are a lot of Mac users who’ve never known the joy of using an Adobe software installer, but who soon will.
